My first day in the land of the Swiss! After a long day of traveling we finally made it to the hotel and checked in. Shortly after, we all ran out the door to explore this new place. We walked roughly two miles through the city and saw a lot more than I could have expected to see. I'd have to say I am enjoying it a ton. I'm not sure where we walked to but we saw huge clock towers and tons of shopping stores. On the walk, I am positive we passed every type of architecture possible. We passed modern store fronts to old sand stone facade homes. I have never seen anything like this. One moment the building is modern with huge windows and the next it is bright and colorful with brick texture and sculpted accents. The food here is beyond amazing! It's so fresh and healthy. I did notice that most of the food here is composed of bright colors and tons of vegetables and fruits. Today the group I was with ate a cafe style dinner that was absolutely amazing. It was on the top floor of a Walmart style store. I did notice, however, that they had no fried food. There was nothing that was unhealthy or greasy. I wish we had more food like this at home. It's going to be nice to have a break from all of the greasy foods that we are used too. I also tried Swiss chocolate and it's safe to say that I will be gaining a few pounds here in the land of the Swiss.

After walking into a market I was bombarded with all the different Swiss candy and chocolate. It lined the shelves of the store from one end all the way to the other. One of the locals explained the difference between the chocolates and how the local brand is made with Swiss milk and the others are made with powdered milks. For the life of me I can not remember which brand was the good one but it starts with a "C". So far so good for day one! Only bad thing... The hotel has no air conditioning and if you know me, if it is not snowing, I'm sweating.... I'm going to die from the heat & humidity...
Now off to our welcome dinner. I am super hungry and can not wait to see what Fran has in store for us! FOOOOOD!
