We're going on a trip!

How would one describe today? Bland.. Today was a day of travel for us. We went by train from Vienna, Austria to Nuremberg, Germany then to Liepzig, Germany and then finally to Dessau. Although that sounds pretty strait forward our luck today was pretty bad. One of our trains got cancelled because the train engineers were on strike. This gave us a six hour layover in Nuremberg. I wish we had time to plan I would of loved to see some World War II museums but we just didn't have time.

During our break, Santi took a few of us to the The Neues Museum Staaliches Museum fur Kunst and Design, or shorter in english, the Museum for Modern Art. It was right across the street from the train station. It was pretty cool. We saw some stuff we learned about in class such as the video art and performance art sections. I really enjoyed seeing the video art set up. It is hard to experience something like that from a video on a screen in class. But to be able to walk around the installation and really look at each screen in depth was fascinating. I am also a huge fan of Andy Warhal and I really liked the piece that they had on display. It was a man dressed in all army gear covered in a camo color overlay. I have never seen that piece before, but it would have to be my favorite from the museum.

I really do not know what this piece was trying to display, but hey if a grey canvas can make it into a museum maybe something I make will some day too. The museum was really cool and had some interesting installation pieces.

After leaving the museum, Tony and I found an old Irish pub. The place in the inside was incredible! It was decorated with all old Irish memorabilia. I felt like I jumped back in time. After that we jumped back n the train and made our way to Leipzig. From here we had to take a cab an hour to Dessau, Germany. Let's just say, once we got to the hotel I almost fell asleep in the lobby.
